Keynote Speakers:

Keynote speaker: Dr. Jane Chevako  Are you My School Nurse?”
Dr. Jane is constantly amazed at how much school nurses are like wizards, doing so much with so little. It takes a little magic to do all the things a school nurse does every day. Taking care of others is a priority of all healthcare providers, who ironically often fail to take care of themselves. School nursing is a rewarding job and also a stressful job. Dr. Jane will review different kinds of STRESS, including the physiology of what stress does in our bodies. By understanding the pathophysiology of these stresses and their effects on our health, we learn how better choices actually reduce the negative consequences of stress. This information can help improve each school nurse’s health and well-being. Every school nurse will leave feeling strong and indispensable with the answer to “Are You My School Nurse?” humming in their heart.
(Dr. Jane is partially funded by a generous donation by School Health)

Nina Fekaris, MS, NCSN, RN, BSN, President of NASN
Our current NASN president, Nina bring 27 years of experience as a school nurse in Oregon. Allowing the school nurse to find a voice to tell students’ stories is one of her main focuses in her NASN presidency.
